What version of WordPress are you using? I’m using WordPress 3.0, and the Remote Publishing was present at least as far back as version 2.9.2. If you don’t see it, then it’s possible that it’s not enabled in your particular version, or that whoever implemented it removed remote publishing, which would be a shame.

Under Writing Im not able see remote publishing.. there is no any option to XML RPC.. what to do>?

Sorry about that! It was an editorial oversight… there wasn’t room for any appendices. We missed that reference, which should have been omitted.

Reading your book Word 2010 Bible, and on page 61 it begins to refer to Appendix A. Can’t find it anywhere. Any help appreciated.

The VBA editor can be exceedingly picky. Can you copy/paste exactly what you have for the macro (assuming you haven’t resolved the issue yet)? And, are you using Word 2007 or 2010?

i was so happy to find this topic on your blog. unfortunately, the fix didn’t work for me. when i click my icon (tied to the macro) i get a “syntax” error. i’ve pasted the macro language direct from your instructions, but the error certainly implies there’s an issue with my macro… i’ll have to keep playing with it. thanks for sharing your knowledge however!

Herb:

I did develop a “work-around”. I draft my eMail in Outlook 2010. I open Word 2010. I run the “insert” macro in Word 2010. Select the page. Copy. Go back to the drafted eMail and paste the image into the eMail.

It is a few extra steps but you can successfully get an image into the body of Outlook 2010 that way.

The VBA implementation for Outlook is different than that for Word, so Outlook doesn’t know about the set of “WordBasic” commands. I don’t know if Outlook even has a command that corresponds to InsertImagerScan.

I wrote the macro for scanning into 2007 which you were kind enough to provide. It seems that Outlook 2010 is not using Word as it’s eMail editor and the macro does not work in Outlook 2010. When I try to run the maco in Outlook 2010 I get a Visual Basic error – Cannot find project or library. I am sure it is something simple I am doing incorrectly. Here is the code that works just fine in MS Word 2010.

Sub InsertFromScanner()
‘
‘ Macro Insert From Scanner
‘ To import image from scanner to Word Document
‘
On Error Resume Next
WordBasic.InsertImagerScan
End Sub

The error message highlights WordBasic in blue.
